February 04, (THEWILL) – Al Nassr and Al Fateh played to a 2-2 draw on Friday night, in the Saudi Pro League, with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring the equalising goal for Al Nassr in the 93rd minute, his first goal for the club.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner had struggled to find the back of the net in his first two games with the club but was given the opportunity to open his account in the Middle East when Al Nassr were awarded a penalty. Ronaldo took the safe option from the spot, slotting the ball down the middle after Al Fateh goalkeeper Jacob Rinne committed to diving.

THEWILL recalls that Ronaldo joined Al Nassr after his contract at Manchester United was mutually terminated in November. Despite receiving offers from Brazil and rumours of a transfer to Sporting Kansas City, Ronaldo ultimately signed with Al Nassr for an astronomical contract that made him the highest-paid athlete in the world.

The draw puts Al Nassr at the top of the Saudi Pro League, level on points with Al Shabab. Odion Ighalo’s Al Hilal and Al Ittihad are close behind, with just four points separating the top five teams in the league.

With the addition of Ronaldo, Al Nassr looks poised to make a run for the championship this season.
