December 07, (THEWILL) – Cristiano Ronaldo has requested access to information related to the current inquiry into the finances of his former side, Juventus, through his attorney, according to a statement from the supervisory board of the Italian club
The statement addressed the likelihood that criminal investigations may have turned up debts owed to Atalanta ($3 million) and Ronaldo ($20 million in postponed wages).
After performing its findings and comparing them to discoveries made by the investigating auditors, the supervisory board has now recommended action for a “series of deficiencies.”
There is proof that Atalanta has generated €3 million in invoices, and due to outstanding salaries that are alleged to have been postponed during the COVID-19 epidemic, Ronaldo is listed as a creditor of the club in the paperwork pertaining to the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Ronaldo’s request for access does not appear to have included a direct demand for payment of the money. Yet, given the amount due him and the apparent absence of any accounting irregularities pertaining to payment, the supervisory board has asked the club to appropriately reflect on how to proceed.
