Richarlison, Kulusevski Fire 10-Man Spurs To 5th With 2-0 Forest Win

December 15, (THEWILL) – Tottenham Hotspur earned a morale-boosting 2-0 away victory against Nottingham Forest on Friday night, moving them level on points with Manchester City in the race for Champions League qualification. Goals from Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski in the both halves proved enough to secure all three points, despite a nervy finish after Yves Bissouma’s dismissal.

After a balanced opening 45 minutes, the deadlock was broken on the stroke of half-time. Kulusevski’s pinpoint cross found Richarlison, who headed home from close range. The Swedish winger then turned goalscorer himself just after the hour mark, punishing a poor clearance from Forest keeper Matt Turner.

Bissouma’s straight red card in the 70th minute for a dangerous lunge made for a tense finale, but Forest struggled to seriously threaten. Their best chances fell to January signing Danilo, but his header was acrobatically saved by stand-in Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario.

The result leaves Tottenham level on 33 points with Man City, though the champions have a game in hand. It continues Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou’s excellent recent record against promoted sides. Meanwhile, Forest remain in 16th place but just five points above the relegation zone.
