Richarlison Inspires Spurs Fightback In 2-1 Win Against Sheffield United

September 16, (THEWILL) – In an enthralling English Premier League tie, Tottenham Hotspur staged a remarkable late comeback to defeat Sheffield United 2-1, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors had taken a shock lead in the 73rd minute through Gustavo Hamer, but Spurs showed resilience to turn the game on its head with two goals in the final minutes. In the first half, both sides created chances, but failed to break the deadlock. Tottenham went close through efforts from Yves Bissouma and Son Heung-min, while Sheffield United’s James McAtee forced a good save from the Spurs goalkeeper.

After the interval, Sheffield United frustrated the home side before Hamer struck late on. Still, Tottenham kept plugging away and finally found an equaliser in the 98th minute when Richarlison headed in at the back post from an Ivan Perisic corner. Remarkably, Spurs then grabbed a dramatic winner in the 101st minute as Richarlison turned provider for Dejan Kulusevski to fire into the top corner and spark wild celebrations.

In a frantic finale, Sheffield United’s Oliver McBurnie was sent off for a second bookable offence as the visitors desperately chased another equaliser. However, Tottenham held on amid a tense atmosphere to claim an unlikely three points with their relentless late pressure.

Overall, it was a thrilling encounter with a dramatic twist, as Spurs showed tremendous spirit to turn around a difficult situation right at the death. Next Sunday, both teams will return to action with Spurs in the first north London derby of the season, at the Emirates, against Arsenal and Sheffield United hosting Newcastle.
