November 20, (THEWILL) – The decision of Davido to donate N250m to orphanages across Nigeria has continued to spark reactions.

THEWILL had reported that the singer had thanked fans and friends for their support.

“In my usual playful manner, I requested a few days ago that my friends and colleagues send money in celebration of my birthday. The response and outcome exceeded my expectations, as I received about NGN 200,000,000.00 in less than two days,” he had stated.

“I have always been passionate about giving back and helping people. In view of this, I am delighted to announce that all the funds received, totaling 200,000,000.00 naira will be donated to orphanages across Nigeria as well as the Paroche foundation.

“A list of all beneficiaries and their verified account details will be submitted to Wema Bank, who will then be instructed to credit each beneficiary’s account.

“My goal is to do this fundraising every year to celebrate my birthday and give back to people in need. It is my hope that my friends, fans, colleagues in the industry, and the public will continue to support me as I drive this cause.”

This development has sparked reactions as some celebrities took to their social media handles to commend the singer.

Obi Cubana, who was one of the celebrities that donated cash to the singer, was full of praise for the singer.

Obi Cubana said, “Davido donates 250m to orphanages! You see what we are talking about? A king will always be a king!

“We all rise by lifting others! It’s not about how much we have but having the mind to help when and where we can! Together, we can all make the world a better place! Thank you King David for impacting the world positively. Thank you!”

Dele Momodu, whose niece, Sophia, has a child for Davido, also hailed the singer, saying, “Well done King David; a phenomenal influence well utilised.”

Referring to Davido as her cousin, Nollywood actress, Wumi Toriola, said, “Blood is thicker than water. Davido, my own man of the year. My cousin to the world. Queen lateefah’s lineage. I hate to boast about fam but it is what it is. Love and light.”

Gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele, said, “This is why I love this young man, @davido, he stands out. The wisdom of God will never depart from you my dear brother.”

Also, Reno Omokri, commended the singer for giving out the N201 million donated to him by his friends and fans.

Omokri wrote: “Davido is much wiser than all those who gave him monies on his birthday. He understands the spiritual realm and the ways of God. He has secured a soft spot in the Heart of the Creator, by virtue of James 1:27. I commend him. What a heart of Gold. What a man to watch for the future. Could his life trajectory be like Ronald Reagan’s? Those who gave to him are different issue entirely. They should read Proverbs 22:16.”
