December 03, (THEWILL) – In an English Premier League thriller, Tottenham Hotspur staged a remarkable late comeback to secure a 3-3 draw away against defending champions, Manchester City, on Sunday.
Trailing 2-1 at halftime, Spurs equalised through Giovani Lo Celso in the 69th minute before a Jack Grealish strike in the 81st minute looked to have won it for City. However, Tottenham attacker, Dejan Kulusevski, powered home a last-gasp 90th minute header to stun the hosts.
The match saw a number of twists and turns, starting with Son Heung-Min giving Spurs a shock early lead before scoring an own goal minutes later. Phil Foden then put City ahead going into half-time in a first half that saw multiple missed chances for City striker, Erling Haaland.
The second half saw chances at both ends before Lo Celso rifled in the equaliser. Grealish looked to have sealed the points for City but Kulusevski’s late intervention snatched Spurs a draw.
The result means Pep Guardiola’s City have now drawn three league games in a row as their title defense has stalled in recent weeks. For injury-hit Spurs and manager Ange Postecoglou, it arrests a string of three defeats. Kulusevski’s last gasp header capped a thrilling contest that entertained from start to finish at the Etihad Stadium.
