March 13, (THEWILL) – Reims FC continue to soar high under head coach, Will Still’s leadership, as the club has remained unbeaten in Ligue 1 since his appointment last October.
On Sunday, Arsenal loanee, Folarin Balogun, scored the only goal in the team’s 1-0 away win over Monaco, propelling Reims to eighth place and closer to securing a spot in European tournaments. Despite the French club’s success, Still is being charged €25,000 per game in fines due to not having a UEFA Pro Licence under Ligue 1 regulations.
Nonetheless, Reims FC’s recent six consecutive clean sheets in the league is an impressive feat, marking the team’s longest run without conceding a goal in their top-flight history. Only Juventus in Serie A had a better streak in the top-five European leagues this season.
Moreover, Reims FC’s ten games unbeaten away from home in Ligue 1 is their longest since 1959, while Balogun’s goal against Monaco has made him the youngest player to score at least 16 goals in his first season in Ligue 1 since 1960-61.
With Still leading the charge, the team aims to continue their winning streak when they host Marseille next Sunday, where they hope to match Tito Vilanova’s unbeaten record.
