September 11, (THEWILL) – Eder Militao and Rodrygo, two Brazilians playing for Real Madrid, are anticipated to obtain Spanish passports in the first quarter of 2023.
This will help with squad selections because only five non-EU players are allowed in a La Liga squad, but only three can be named to the team for any given matchday. Vinicius Junior, qualified to no longer occupy one of Real Madrid’s limited non-EU berths after receiving his Spanish paperwork earlier this month.
With Vinicius, Militao, and Rodrygo, Real has been playing at full strength in recent seasons. Both Militao and Rodrygo are anticipated to get Spanish passports in the early 2023 period as the former is no longer subject to that requirement.
Real would thus have no non-EU players in their matchday squads, opening the door for Los Blancos to potentially add more international players especially after their summer transfer window was impacted by squad constraints, and club officials decided against pursuing a move for Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus out of concern that they would not be able to register him.
However, two months prior to Vinicius receiving his Spanish passport, Jesus decided to transfer from Manchester City to Arsenal and has helped improve the north London side.
