Real Madrid Confirm Contract Extension For Defender Dani Carvajal

July 29, (THEWILL) – Having seen the exit of inspirational manager, Zinedine Zidane, and two iconic defenders in Sergio Ramos to PSG and Raphael Varane to Manchester United, it was good news for another contract extension to come from La Liga giants Real Madrid by way of Dani Carvajal.

As THEWILL reported in May the brilliant Croatian playmaker Luca Modric signed a contract extension to keep him in Madrid for an extra season and that has been followed now by Carvajal’s, who extended his relationship with the Real until June 2025.

Los Blancos sealed the agreement with the 29-year-old right back player and the initial confusion of whether it was until 2024 or until 2025 has now been cleared. It is in keeping with club-wide policy of offering under-30 players more years until they cross the 30-threshold, where one-year renewals come into effect.

Carvajal’s three seasons’ extension comes one full year before his contract was due to expire and allowed Real to confirm that they have him for longer. By 2025, the Spaniard will be 33 and will be due to for a move out or, if player and club agree, the regular one year extension.

An official Real statement on the contract stated that Carvajal had agreed with the club to extend his contract, leaving him set to continue to feature for the club for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2025. Together with club President Florentino Pérez, the defender signed the contract at Real Madrid City.

Immediately after the brief occasion of appending his signature to the contract, he posed for pictures with Perez where he was seen receiving a shirt with his name and number 2025 printed boldly underneath.

Having risen through the Real Madrid youth ranks, Carvajal spent a season with Bayer Leverkusen on loan before returning to the Santiago Bernabeu. In 2013, he broke into the first team and has subsequently gone on to win 16 major trophies including four Champions League trophies, two La Liga titles and a Copa del Rey trophy.
