February 23, (THEWILL) – Real Madrid have confirmed that both David Alaba and Rodrygo suffered muscle injuries during their 5-2 victory over Liverpool in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 clash.
The club issued statements on both injuries, confirming that the players’ progress will be monitored. The statement read: “Following tests carried out today on Rodrygo by the Real Madrid medical services, an injury to the left piriformis muscle has been confirmed. His progress will be monitored.”
Meanwhile, regarding Alaba’s injury, the club stated: “Following tests carried out today on David Alaba by the Real Madrid medical services, it has been determined that the player has a muscle injury in the distal third of the right biceps femoris. His progress is to be monitored.”
It remains to be seen how long both players will be out of action for and their injuries will be a concern for Carlo Ancelotti’s side ahead of the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Los Blancos will be hoping for a quick recovery for them as the Spanish giants look to progress to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League and challenge for the domestic title as well.
