July 31, (THEWILL) – The Kano State Government says the resurfaced picture of Muhammadu Sanusi II, at the Coronation Hall, was not an agenda to return the dethroned 14th Emir of Kano.
The State Government, on Sunday, adorned the newly renovated Coronation Hall with a picture of the 14th Fulani Emir, who was dethroned in March 2020, by the immediate past governor of the State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Many have seen the development as part of a move to return the deposed monarch. According to them, the ongoing renovation of the hall was in preparation for the reinstatement of the dethroned Emir.
But in a statement on Monday, Chief Press Secretary to the State Governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, said adorning the picture of the 14th Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi, is not out of place.
According to him, “The history of the coronation hall is synonymous to the 14th emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi, because it was built for his presentation of staff of office after he was crowned as the emir, succeeding late Alhaji Ado Bayero in 2014 during the administration of Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
“So traditionally, his picture shall remain there forever. Bringing back the picture of the 14th Emir is part of the ongoing rehabilitation to give the Coronation Hall a facelift.
“Honestly, to the best of my knowledge, the reason for the picture at the coronation hall is what I just told you.’’
