Professor Ani Emerges APC Candidate For Ebonyi South Senatorial Bye-Election

January 06, (THE WILL) – Professor Anthony Okorie Ani has won the All Progressive Congress (APC) primary election for the February 4 bye-election for Ebonyi South senatorial district.

Okorie was declared the APC candidate for the senatorial bye-election on Saturday after he polled 281 votes out of a total of 285 votes cast at the primary which was held in Afikpo local government area.

He was the only candidate for the primary.

The APC Screening/Special Congress Committee had said two persons including Princess Ann Agom-Eze and Professor Anthony Okorie Ani, purchased forms for the primary.

However, the Chairman of the committee, Smart Iheazor, on Friday, said only Ani completed his form, returned it to the party and was screened by the Committee. He added that Ago-Eze neither returned her form nor showed up for the screening

THEWILL reports that the Ebonyi South Senatorial seat became vacant following the appointment of Senator David Umahi as Minister by President Bola Tinubu.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Umahi, the winner of the February 25 National Assembly election for Ebonyi South Senatorial District.
