BEVERLY HILLS, April 20, (THEWILL) – The presidency has ordered state house correspondents, photographers and media staff that attended the funeral of the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mallam Abba Kyari, to work from home for the next two weeks.
Kyari died from the COVID-19 pandemic on Friday and was buried on Saturday.
Sunday’s directive is on the heels of Saturday’s blockade of both senior and junior presidential aides who attended the funeral from entering the presidential villa.

The Deputy Director, Information, State House, Attah Esa, in a statement titled ‘Advisory to State House Correspondents/Media Staff,’ said, “As a precautionary measure, all State House Correspondents and Media Office Staff who covered/attended the funeral prayer/burial ceremony of the late Chief of Staff, at Defence House and Gudu Cemetery Abuja, respectively, are strongly advised to work from home for the next 14 days.”
THEWIL had previously reported that several attendees of the funeral did not wear protective gear and ignored the safety guidelines as prescribed by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC.
Because of the shoddy manner the burial ceremony was conducted against safety guidelines, FCT authorities deployed disease control experts to clean up the cemetery and its environs. There have been calls to have everyone who attended the funeral self-isolate.
