September 08, (THEWILL) – Graham Potter, the manager of Brighton & Hove Albion, has reportedly agreed to take over at Chelsea.

Following Thomas Tuchel’s dismissal, the 47-year-old began talks with Chelsea on Wednesday. The negotiations went well, and he was given the opportunity to succeed the German at Stamford Bridge. The necessary paperwork is underway after Potter verbally agreed to take over.

The Blues want the deal closed by Thursday and, if there are no problems with the process, Potter will assume leadership ahead of this weekend’s derby against Fulham. Todd Boehly, Chelsea’s co-owner, had been in charge of the search since the first indications of problems with Tuchel.

Potter was always the top pick for Chelesa, and Boehly and the rest of the club’s management felt they had their man after meeting him at their initial talks. Boehly and the rest of the board were satisfied with Potter’s performance during discussions, and he was given the post few hours after their meeting.

Boehly desired a quick appointment, and that is what has transpired. Potter has a release clause in his contract, and Brighton has started their own search for a replacement.
