Porro, Kulusevski On Target As Spurs Ease Past Sheffield, Qualify For Europa

May 19, (THEWILL)- Tottenham Hotspur cemented their place in the UEFA Europa League group stage for next season with a comfortable 3-0 victory over relegated Sheffield United. The win at Bramall Lane leaves the Blades winless in their last 14 English Premier League games.

Although Sheffield had their first chance through Ben Brereton Díaz, it was the visitors who took control. Spurs struggled initially, inviting pressure from the hosts, but a counter-attacking move saw Dejan Kulusevski fire them ahead, poking home after Heung-Min Son’s pass.

After the opener, Tottenham piled on the pressure, with Pedro Porro’s long-range effort forcing a stunning save from Wesley Foderingham. The first half fizzled out, however, the game burst back into life after the break as Spurs pushed for a second.

The resistance of Sheffield’s defence eventually broke, as Brennan Johnson’s rebound fell kindly for Porro to lash home a second. Kulusevski then added a third, finishing calmly after a sublime pass from James Maddison to seal a convincing victory for the North Londoners.

While Tottenham claimed fifth place and Europa League football, Sheffield United’s disappointing EPL campaign ended with a whimper as they head back to the Championship.
