July 27, (THEWILL) – A popular broadcast journalist, Chinonso Uba, has been arrested by operatives of the Imo State Police Command.
Uba was arrested on Thursday morning, shortly after he finished anchoring his morning programme on Ozisa FM, Owerri.
He was said to be driving in his Highlander SUV when the policemen, who were laying siege, double-crossed him in front of Holy Ghost College Secondary School junction.
The manager of Ozisa FM, Rev Fr Raymond Nzereogu, confirmed the incident.
Rev Nzereogu said he visited the police command headquarters where he saw the journalist in the custody of the policemen.
Although, THEWILL cannot immediately confirm why Uba was arrested. When contacted for details, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, Henry Okoye, said that he was in a meeting.
