Operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command, have arrested Isiyaku Babangida, a wanted suspected terrorist, perpetrating attacks, kidnappings, and cattle rustling in Anka and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas of the State.
According to the police, an armed robbery suspect, who allegedly robbed bank customers of their money and other valuables in Borno, Bauchi, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara States, has also been arrested.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu, who paraded the suspects before newsmen on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf, said police operatives acted on Intelligence information which led to the arrest of “one of the most wanted Terrorists, Isiyaku Babangida, male, 31 years old who hails from Niger State in North Central, Nigeria”.
The police image maker explained that, “police operatives received intelligence that bandits, kingpin Alhaji Bello and his gang members attempted to attack some communities in Anka and Bukkuyum Local Government Areas of the State.”
He said, the command mobilised police tactical operatives into the areas, where they engaged in a gun battle with the bandits.
He said the superior firepower of the police forced them to retreat into the bush with gun shot wounds, “abandoning two AK 47 rifles, two fabricated dane guns and two hundred and thirty six 7.62 millimetres live ammunitions”.
The Police image maker also disclosed that operatives “arrested a bank robber, Usman Umar, male, 39, after it received a complaint from one Nura Umar of the Zamfara State Investment Department, that unknown Persons broke the left side of windshield of his Peugeot 406 vehicle, stole his three million, four hundred and seventy three thousand naira and laptop.
“The police have recovered the three million, five hundred thousand Naira and the laptop from the suspect, who confessed that he has been perpetrating similar crime in Borno, Bauchi, Kebbi and Sokoto States.
