Pimblett Continues Winning Streak With Second-Round UFC London Win Against Leavitt

July 24, (THEWILL) – At UFC London on Saturday night, Paddy “The Baddy” Pimblett defeated Jordan Leavitt by second-round submission to continue his UFC winning streak.

Early in the second round, Pimblett submitted Leavitt with a rear naked choke to raise his UFC record to 3-0. Leavitt had some success in the opening round, knocking Pimblett to the ground twice and attempting to control the direction of the bout in the early exchanges.

But, in the final seconds of the round, the British fighter was still able to score a number of critical blows. Then, early in round two, he outmuscled Leavitt, taking control of the situation close to the cage before applying the rear naked choke.

After the bout, Pimblett gave an emotional speech to the crowd in which he honoured Lee-Joshua Hodgson, who tragically passed away last month at the age of four after suffering a rare form of cancer. In addition, he paid respect to a friend who had died by suicide just before the occasion and asked been to speak up.

“If you’re a man and you’re carrying a heavy weight, talk to someone,” he said. “I’d rather have (my friend) cry on my shoulder than have to go to his funeral next week.” The stadium was playing the famous Liverpool anthem “You will Never Walk Alone” as Pimblett exited the octagon in tears.
