December 03, (THEWILL) – Kano Pillars star, Yusuf Abdullahi, has written his name in the Nigeria Premier Football League history books with a sensational five-goal haul against Gombe United on Sunday. The striker’s incredible solo performance led his side to a dominating 5-2 away victory against the relegation strugglers.
Abdullahi was simply unstoppable at the Pantami Stadium, netting a first-half hat-trick inside 33 minutes to put Kano Pillars into a dominant position. Despite Gombe pulling two goals back before half time, the lethal striker restored his side’s two-goal advantage right on the stroke of the interval with his fourth.
There was no let up from the rampant Abdullahi in the second period. He grabbed his fifth just on the hour mark as the home fans looked on in disbelief at the exhibition they were witnessing.
The phenomenal individual display saw Abdullahi enter his name into the NPFL history books. The last player to score this many goals in a single top flight match was Emem Eduok of the defunct Dolphins FC, who hit six against Nembe City back in 2014.
After their emphatic victory, lifted by their new hero Abdullahi, Kano Pillars will be full of confidence as they continue their season. Meanwhile it was another painful defeat for Gombe United, who remain deep in the relegation battle.
