PGA Championship Resumes After Fog Delay, Groupings Adjusted

May 18, (THEWILL)- The second round of the 106th PGA Championship at Valhalla was disrupted by heavy fog on Saturday, causing a delay of two hours and 25 minutes before play resumed.

The delay has led to changes in the groupings for the third round, as the final 17 players who were still on the course when darkness halted play on Friday must complete their remaining holes before the cut can be determined and groups can be finalised. Originally scheduled to start in pairs from the first tee, players will now tee off in groups of three from the first and 10th tees to ensure the third round is completed before sunset.

Reigning Olympic champion Xander Schauffele, seeking his first major victory, leads the field at 12-under par 136 after 36 holes. Fellow American Collin Morikawa, a two-time major winner, trails by one stroke, while countryman Sahith Theegala is two strokes behind. This American trio will tee off in the afternoon’s final group for the third round.

Glo

Scottie Scheffler, who fired a five-under par 66 on Friday after facing an early morning incident, shares fourth place at 133 with fellow Americans Bryson DeChambeau and Mark Hubbard, as well as Belgium’s Thomas Detry.

The leaderboard remains fluid as the final players complete their second rounds, setting the stage for an exciting third round at the prestigious PGA Championship.
