September 06, (THEWILL) – Anderson Silva, a former UFC middleweight champion, will square off against social media celebrity and boxer, Jake Paul, on October 29.
The fight has been in the works for a while with No Smoke Boxing announcing earlier that it would take place on August 30. On the same day that Paul revealed that he works to take on Silva next, MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz revealed that plans were being made to stage the match.
It will air live on Showtime pay-per-view and will be an eight-round bout contested at 187 pounds scheduled for the Glendale, Arizona’s Gila River Arena.
With two wins over former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley among his victories, the 25-year-old Paul has a perfect boxing record of five out of five.
Meanwhile, in his professional MMA career, the 47-year-old Silva had a 34-11 record with one no-contest. He had a 17-match winning streak, where he successfully defended the middleweight belt 10 times.
