BEVERLY HILLS, September 23, (THEWILL) – The collation of Osun Gubernatorial election results is taking place at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Secretariat in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

However, THEWILL can project the likelihood of a run-off as Senator Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and his All Progressives Congress (APC) rival, Gboyega Oyetola, are in the lead, based on which lens you view the result.

Results from 24 out of 30 local government areas (LGAs) have been announced, with the opposition party leading with a margin of over 12,000 votes.

While the PDP leads in total votes cast so far, in terms of number of local governments, the APC has the lead.

However, only the final results from the remaining 6 local governments will show if the APC can overcome the over 12,000 votes with which it is trailing the PDP.

Already, the PDP is alleging that there are plans by the APC to manipulate the result of Osogbo saying it will not accept the outcome if the final results announced are not the same as those from polling units.

THEWILL recalls that some supporters of the party had earlier stormed the head office of the Commission over an alleged plan to rig the election.

There are allegations that 1,000 votes were deducted from the result of the PDP in Ayedaade LGA.

While 10,836 was said to have been counted at the polling unit, 9,836 was announced at the collation centre.

When confronted with the allegation, the returning officer insisted the announced result is correct.

In the wake to the allegations, the PDP, via its Twitter handle, asked its supporters to remain at the collation centre and prevent any attempt to alter results gathered from the polling units.
