September 27, (THEWILL) – Napoli find themselves in controversy after a video mocking striker, Victor Osimhen, was posted on the club’s official TikTok page, as THEWILL reported. The Nigerian’s agent, Roberto Calenda, has reacted strongly, threatening legal action for the “denigratory” video.
Calenda is incensed by the club’s actions and intends to protect his client. The video poked fun at Osimhen’s penalty miss during Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Bologna. With the chance to break the deadlock in the 72nd minute, the Nigerian fluffed his lines from the spot.
In a statement, Calenda described the video as “unacceptable” and causing “serious damage” to Osimhen. He said the club had belatedly deleted the video, but the harm was already done. Calenda reserved the right to initiate legal proceedings to defend the beleaguered striker.
Osimhen’s struggles have mirrored Napoli’s indifferent start to the season. The defending Serie A champions have managed just 8 points from their first five games – their worst return since the 2015/2016 campaign. Manager Rudi Garcia will hope to avoid further distractions as he tries to turn around their fortunes.
The last thing Napoli need is a rift with their star striker. But Osimhen appears to have run out of patience with his treatment from club and fans alike and his agent is looking at legal means to handle the situation.
