September 02, (THEWILL) – Victor Osimhen is nearing a loan move to Galatasaray, according to reports being monitored by THEWILL. Napoli has reportedly reached an agreement with the Turkish club and the player is expected to travel to Istanbul soon to finalise the transfer.
The Nigerian striker’s contract with Napoli is set to be extended until 2027, likely to maintain his market value. However, the Italian club still intends to sell Osimhen in 2025. This development comes after failed attempts to transfer the player to Chelsea and Saudi Arabian clubs, during the summer transfer window.
Following the unsuccessful transfer attempts, Napoli took drastic measures by removing Osimhen’s number 9 shirt and excluding him from their squad list. The club’s actions were reportedly prompted by the player’s reluctance to extend his contract beyond 2026.
Galatasaray, who will be competing in the UEFA Europa League this season, could provide Osimhen with a new opportunity. If the move goes through, the striker would join former Napoli teammate Dries Mertens and compete for a starting position with Mauro Icardi.
The Turkish transfer window remains open until 13 September, giving both clubs ample time to complete the deal. This potential move could mark a significant shift in Osimhen’s career, offering him a chance to revitalise his form in a new league.
