October 11, (THEWILL) – All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that Governor Samuel Ortom’s latest outing was to express unwarranted grievance over the salient issues raised by the 2023 Benue APC gubernatorial standard bearer, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, about the governance failure in Benue state.
It was noted that Ortom’s government has lost the ability to feel shame or regret because it is a rare human condition that happens when the person becomes accustomed to doing evil.
The party explained that Father Alia made a statement of fact at last Sunday’s Thanksgiving Mass and reception, in his honour, by his maternal kinsmen at Mbatiav in Gboko local government area.
A statement signed by the Director of Communication, 2023 Alia/Ode Campaign Organisation’, Mr Tersoo Kula, quotes Ortom through his aide that Alia is apparently bereft of ideas and knowledge of what governance entails.
“We consider the charge self-indicting. If anyone could be indicted for cerebral vacuousness, it is Governor Ortom. He is the one who has demonstrated no imagination in the Governor’s mansion over 8 sorry years other than the criminal misappropriation of the people’s commonwealth; a tragedy the governor is bent on elongating with his effort to install an equally bumbling stooge in Speaker, Titus Uba who is only known for reckless approval of loans.”
According to the statement, never in the history of Benue state have the people been dehumanised and traumatised by deliberate maladministration under Ortom administration.
“We beg to ask again, is it not common knowledge that civil servants and pensioners in the state have lost count of the number of months Ortom has not paid them?”
Is it not an open secret that our rural people and small business owners are consistently lamenting over Ortom’s atrocious taxation that squeezes the little they have out of their hands for onward embezzlement by stewards of the administration? APC asked.
The party alleged that there has been an unprecedented multi-sectoral decay in the state depicting an absence of knowledge and governance ideas in the Government House.
“In an Alia administration, money is going to be spent constructing infrastructure including building and equipping schools, and hospitals and revamping the agricultural sector to make it more rewarding to farmers, as well as clearing the backlog of unpaid salaries and pensions accumulated over time.”
Mr Kula pointed out that Fr Alia is ever prepared, ready and focused and has come to rescue Benue people and would never be distracted no matter the name calling and invectives; noting that APC will continue to table before Benue masses the rots of the current administration and why it should not be allowed to install another regime in 2023 to worsen the woes of the people.
