May 19, (THEWILL) – Liverpool forward, Divock Origi, has finalised personal terms with Italian side AC Milan, rejecting the possibility to stay in the Premier League, in order to secure a move to the San Siro.
Origi’s contract at Anfield expires this summer, making him a free transfer target. He was offered a contract extension, but the Belgian has decided to move on. Origi moved to Liverpool from Lille in 2014, but he really came a year later after a season on loan in France.
The 27-year-old has never been a first-team regular at Liverpool, having appeared in fewer than 40 games throughout his stint with the club, but he has developed a cult following among the Reds’ supporters.
During his tenure on Merseyside, he has scored some vital goals, including a hat-trick against Everton and the winner in the Champions League final against Tottenham in 2019. But he has now opted to depart. West Ham, Newcastle, Wolves, Southampton, and Crystal Palace were all interested in signing Origi on a free transfer.
Origi has already agreed to terms and will have his medical and contract signed within the next week.
