Remi Tinubu is supposed to be a woman, a mother and a wife. Not sure any of that matters now. What matters at this point is the fact that she is just the typical Nigerian politician, ready to sacrifice the truth for political benefit in the face of glaring malfeasance, incompetence, killings, abductions, blood, pain and national misery.
At a recent plenary session in the upper house of the National Assembly dedicated to addressing the rising insecurity in the country, a Senator from Kogi, Smart Adeyemi (APC) had in an emotional moment, decried the increasing spate of insecurity (killings, kidnappings, abductions, robbery etc) across the country with great emphasis on Northern Nigeria.
Mrs Tinubu (APC) , a Senator representing Lagos state and wife of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, berated Senator Adeyemi for being a PDP member and a ‘wolf in sheep clothing’ for daring to criticise the Buhari administration and it’s nonchalant attitude to the rising insecurity in the country which he termed as being the worst in the history of the Nigerian nation.
Mrs Tinubu’s rebuke of Senator Adeyemi does not just expose the content of her character, it also explains why she and others like her have not been at the forefront of speaking up for the security of lives of women, children, and the girl child in Northern Nigeria and other affected parts of Nigeria.
It explains why we have never heard Remi Tinubu speak up on the Leah Sharibu case even though she we hear she is a Christian married to a muslim Bola Tinubu.
It explains why Remi Tinubu has never spoken up about the killings of mothers and children by savage herdsmen across the South West.
It explains why Remi Tinubu, a wife, will never be bothered by the fact that Boko Haram has taken over villages and communities in Niger state and have also seized and acquired the wives of many young men in those communities.
It also shows us how well some of these politicians can shield themselves from the troubles in the land so that they do not loose their personal stakes.
People like Remi Tinubu are not true representatives of the people. These types do not speak up for their people. These ones do not feel the pains of the people they claim to represent.
People like Remi Tinubu are in politics for themselves. For their reward and compensation.
At a time when most Nigerians believe that women may be better political leaders and representatives of the people, Remi Tinubu has shown us that this is not the case and that when push comes to shove, the truth can always be shoved aside.
A typical bread and butter politician who seek compensation and rent rather than service to the people.
What a shame.
