December 10, (THEWILL) – Trabzonspor claimed an important 3-1 away victory against Gaziantep FK in the Turkish Süper Lig on Sunday. The game at Gaziantep Kalyon Stadium saw two goals from Trezeguet and one from Anastasios Bakaseta to help the visitors emerge victorious and climb to fourth on the table on 26 points.
The first half finished deadlocked after chances for both sides. Trabzonspor looked the more dangerous but failed to capitalise on opportunities from Paul Onuachu and Trezeguet. It remained goalless at the break.
Trabzonspor opened the scoring three minutes after the interval through Trezeguet, who followed up a header from Onuachu to slot home. Bakasetas then doubled the lead on the hour mark with a fine right-footed strike from outside the box. Trezeguet grabbed his second after finishing off a header from Enis Destan that was spilt by goalkeeper Nita to make it 3-0.
Gaziantep pulled one back through a Denis Dragus free kick in the 80th minute but it proved only a consolation as Trabzonspor held on for a crucial victory to maintain their climb up the Turkish Süper Lig standings.
The win capped off Abdullah Avci’s 100th league match in charge of Trabzonspor. His side face Samsunspor next as they look to continue their charge towards becoming championship contenders.
