Penultimate week, the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Moshood Lekan Balogun, hosted the creme de la creme of Nigeria’s social circuit to the 50th birthday of his wife, Olori Olufunmilayo Morenike. Despite being the host, the monarch allowed his wife to choose how best she wanted to celebrate the auspicious day. Themed ‘Royal Birthday Party’, the celebrant chose to hold a thanksgiving ceremony to specially thank her Creator for making her witness the day. The guests were serenaded with melodious tunes from gospel singer, Tope Alabi and Faith band, both of who succeeded in getting many people into the worship mode during the ceremony.
Narrating how she met her husband and their love story, Olori Olufunmilayo said she had had an eventful journey with the monarch. She thanked God for her marriage and for blessing it with four amazing children, including a set of twins. She reiterated her love for her husband who has stood by her all these years and equally thanked the people of Ibadan for their love towards her and her husband since he ascended the Olubadan throne last year.
