November 01, (THEWILL) – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the manager of Manchester United, has extended his condolences to Nuno Espirito Santo, who was fired by Tottenham Hotspur on Monday morning.
Nuno’s final days were aided by United’s 3-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday, with Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici meeting the next day to discuss his future at the club.
Nuno was notified of his dismissal on Monday morning after heading to Tottenham’s training field.
Solskjaer, who has been under a lot of pressure since United’s dismal start to the season, including a 5-0 home loss to Liverpool, has expressed his disappointment at Nuno’s departure.
“It’s never nice to see good men lose their jobs,” he said.
“(Nuno) has been working hard — and I don’t know what the situation is or has been at Tottenham so I can’t comment too much — but as a colleague, you’re never happy when that happens.
“We try to get in touch with him and tell him your feelings.”
Tottenham are reportedly close to agreeing on a deal with Antonio Conte, according to multiple reports, after the Italian was initially linked with Solskjaer’s job at Manchester United.
