Okpala Set To Rejoin Coach Brown At Kings

July 16, (THEWILL) – The Sacramento Kings have reportedly signed Nigerian forward, KZ Okpala, to a two-year deal, according to the player’s agent, Aaron Mintz.

The 6-foot-8, 23-year-old Okpala has played for the Miami Heat throughout his entire three-year NBA career, including last season, when he made 21 appearances. In February, he was moved to Oklahoma City Thunder, and shortly after that, he was released.

Although Mintz seemed purposely vague, it is possible that Okpala’s contract with the Kings was only partially guaranteed. Okpala did play for the Nigerian national team under new Sacramento coach, Mike Brown, who was impressed and has made encouraging comments about the player’s talent.

The Kings’ offseason has been interesting. Along with appointing Brown as coach, they also signed guard, Malik Monk and used the No. 4 overall draught pick to choose former Iowa forward, Keegan Murray.

In addition, they added some perimeter support by trading for shooting guard, Kevin Huerter, from the Atlanta Hawks.
