BEVERLY HILLS, June 23 (THEWILL) – Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, has nominated 12 commissioners and forwarded their names to the state House of Assembly for confirmation.
Their names were read at Tuesday’s plenary by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya.
The nominees include Mr. Kingsley Emu, Hon. Joyce Overah, Mrs. Mary Iyasere, Mr. Joseph Ogeah, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan, Mrs. Omatsola Williams, Chief Fidelis Tilijie, Hon. John Nani, Mr. Newworld Safugha, Mr. Augustine Chikezie, Mr. Chiedu Ebie and Mr. James Aguonye.
The speaker directed the nominees to submit 35 duplicate copies of their credentials to the office of the Clerk of the state House of Assembly on or before June 25.
Igbuya also directed the nominees to appear before the state House of Assembly on June 30 for screening.
The State House of Assembly on Tuesday also elected its principal officers following names of nominees forwarded to it by the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The nominees are Mr. Tim Owhefere, (Isoko North) as the Majority Leader, Mrs. Patience Ajudua as the Chief Whip, Mr. Oboro Preyor as Deputy Majority Leader, Mr. Michael Diden as Deputy Chief Whip, and Mr. Reuben Izeze as Majority Whip.
Mr. Okoh Chukwuyen of the Accord Party (AP) was also elected as the Minority Leader following the recommendation by his party.
