October 5, (THEWILL) – With a 1-0 victory over Dinamo, Salzburg secured their first UEFA Champions League victory of the season, to the excitement of their home fans.

Throughout the game, there was not much separating the teams, but Salzburg capitalised on their opportunity from the penalty spot after defender Andreas Ulmer was fouled by Sadegh Moharrami in the box.

After a lengthy pause, during which the referee had to address Salzburg players asking for a red card, Okafor calmly placed the ball in the bottom corner, sending the Dinamo keeper, Dominik Livakovic, the wrong way.

Josip Drmic believed he had given Dinamo an equaliser in stoppage time with a beautifully cushioned header, but he started too early and the offside flag stopped their celebrations.

With this victory, Salzburg has broken their streak of draws across all competitions and now sit atop the table before Chelsea and Milan’s upcoming fixture.
