Ogun Trains Teachers On New Skills For Technical Students

May 23, (THEWILL) – The Ogun State Government has embarked on a training workshop for teachers in eight technical colleges across the state to expose them to modern teaching methods and practice.

The one-day training workshop organised by the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board (OGSTVEB) is aimed at training the teachers on best global teaching practices, which will enable them to teach their students better.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Technical and Vocational Education, Prof. Joseph Odemuyiwa, said this while addressing teachers on the need to improve their knowledge and skills in technical education.

Odemuyiwa said the state government was committed to building the capacity of teachers in the technical colleges, since skills and technical education were inseparable.

He said technical education in Ogun was in a bad state before the current administration came on board, charging the teachers to pass on the skills they acquire during training to their students effectively.

He also urged the students to be proud of their trade, saying that the board was working towards making its certificate international so as to enable the students ply their trade anywhere in the world.

The Resource Person Engr. Adesugun Fatoki, who spoke on the theme: “Understanding the Delivery of National Occupational Standards in Technical Colleges in Ogun State,” charged the teachers to teach students using CBT approach in line with the Nigerian Skills Qualification Framework and National standard.
