July 30, (THEWILL) – Gubernatorial Candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Ogun State, Otunba Deji Osinowo, has congratulated Tobi Amusan for winning the world Athletics Championship Gold Medal in Eugene, Oregon, U.S.A.
Amusan became the first African to win world athletic tournament, after she ran 100m hurdles and broke a record by improving on her 12.12s in the Semi-final, which was previously set by America’s Kendra Harrison at 12.20s.
Osinowo while felicitating with the Ijebu-Ode born sprinter via his WhatsApp status, said she truly demonstrated the Ijebu spirit in her by winning the athletic tournament.
He described her as a golden queen, whose courage, resilience and determination made her break the world record, noting that her success was not only great for the state, but for Nigeria as well.
“She has truly demonstrated the ijebu spirit in her. You can see the resilience, courage and determination with which she broke 2 world records. It was no fluke.
“Congrats Tobi Amusan, Congrats Ogun state and Congrats to Nigeria. A golden queen is here”, he added.
