July 24, (THEWILL) – The local government elections in some parts of Ogun State have been extended by one hour to make up for the late arrival of materials.

THEWILL had reported low turnout of voters and late arrival of materials at the early stage of the excercise on Saturday.

The elections, scheduled to hold between 8 a.m and 300 p.m, did not start until 11.00 a.m in most of the polling centres, prompting the State Independent Electoral Commission to extend the exercise by an hour.

Briefing journalists, the Chairman of the Commission said he received reports that election materials got to some centres late and that necessitated an extension.
