Officers Killed As Terrorists Ambush Security Operatives In Kaduna

January 10, (THEWILL) – At least 12 persons including seven operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been killed during an ambush on the Kuriga mining site in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The NSCDC Director of Public Relations, Olusola Odumosu, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday, said one other personnel escaped the attack with injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

He said the attackers carted away the rifles of the slain operatives.


Odumosu described the attack, which occurred on Monday, at about 10am, as unfortunate and a big loss to the Corps and the family of the deceased.

He said the remains of the seven officers along with five other victims had been deposited at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna.

Meanwhile, the Corps lost three other personnel from the National Headquarters in a car accident on Monday evening.

The accident victims were female personnel and two male operatives.
