President Bola Tinubu has ordered a full and transparent investigation into the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners who died while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Minna, Niger State.
Bago disclosed this while speaking to journalists in the state capital, saying the government had launched an investigation into the incident and would establish what led to the deaths.
The directive followed the deaths of the suspects arrested during coordinated enforcement operations against illegal mining in the M.I. Wushishi and Lukoto areas of Niger State on September 15 and 16.
