Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi to Upgrade Yoruba Dictionary

GTBCO FOOD DRINL

The paramount ruler of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, is set to improve and upgrade the Yoruba dictionary. The royal father who took over the helm of affairs in Iwo land, Osun State in 2015 will embark on the task with Chief Dipo Fagunwa, son of prolific author and playwright, Daniel Olorunfemi Fagunwa, the founder of Yoruba literature and author of Ogboju Ode ninu Igbo Irunmole, which was later translated by Wole Soyinka to Forest of a Thousand Demons.

The step was also taken to commemorate the 59th anniversary of the demise of Daniel Fagunwa who had a legendary contribution to the development of the Yoruba language before his demise. His death created a vacuum in the advancement of the indigenous language. Emperor Telu 1 as he is fondly called developed personal interest in improving and upgrading the Yoruba dictionary because of his concern for the many loop holes in Yoruba words and language and the failure of the Yoruba professors to work at improving them.

Oba Akanbi has always been a custodian of Yoruba culture as he upholds its values in the administration of his duties as the paramount ruler of Iwoland. New words would be conceptualized and new names would be given to some objects.
