August 23, (THEWILL) – Officials of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps have seized 16,000 litres of PMS from oil thieves and fraudulent dealers across Cross River State.

Samuel Fadeyi, the state commandant of the corps, who disclosed this in Calabar, said the seizure occurred in various parts of the state.

He said the State Command decided to search parks across the state following an instruction from the Commandant General of NSCDC, that some activities were going on in parks.

“Within the last two weeks, we have impounded about 16,000 litres of AGO from different spots in the state.

“Some of the places we went to, we met a lot of hostilities, so we make sure that we destroy the capacity of the perpetrators from continuing in the business and quickly exit the area to avoid human casualties.

“Some of these hawkers work like cartels, once they see security officials, they attack and escape, but we make sure we impound the products”, the commandant said.

He cautioned that the stored petroleum products were a highly regulated field and required a licence for anyone to go into it because of the danger it could pose to society if not properly handled.
