June 13, (THEWILL) – Nollywood director, Niyi Akinmolayan, has revealed that the Nigeria movie industry lacks good marketing structures and companies to market its movies.
In a thread on his Twitter, the award winning director, said the industry has produced 40% box office movies in 2022, but it is unfortunate that the industry does not have the marketing outfits dedicated to those movies.
He added that despite the huge budget dedicated to the marketing of movies, producers end up wasting the money because they don’t know how the marketing chain works.
He encouraged those who have good marketing companies to tap into the opportunity in the movie industry, but they need to study the industry well.
Stating further, he said film marketers can influence filmmakers to reshoot, rework, re-edit movies, just to meet up with the standard that will make it compete favourably in the market.
He also added that marketing movies is beyond just printing a billboard and doing radio jingles.
