August 26, (THEWILL) — The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has debunked a viral report alleging that some young people in Nyanya have been selling their kidneys for money.
The Command described the claim as false, stressing that it has neither received nor confirmed any report of such an incident in Nyanya or any related operation involving the illegal purchase of human organs.
The clarification was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday, August 26, by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, following the circulation of the allegation on social media.
The viral publication claimed that some young residents in the Nyanya area of the FCT had allegedly resorted to selling their kidneys for financial gain. It also alleged that an agent operating around Mararaba was involved in purchasing human kidneys, a claim that generated concern and reactions among members of the public after it was circulated online.
However, the FCT Police Command said it had no record of such a report and had not issued any statement or communication confirming the allegations. It urged members of the public to disregard the publication, describing it as unverified and warning against the spread of information capable of creating unnecessary fear and panic.
According to the police, no confirmed report before the Command currently establishes that young people in Nyanya are selling their kidneys or that an individual around Mararaba is purchasing human kidneys.

The Command appealed to residents and social media users to exercise caution before sharing sensational security-related claims, particularly reports that have not been independently verified by the relevant authorities.
It warned that the rapid spread of unverified allegations could create apprehension within communities and make it difficult for members of the public to distinguish genuine security alerts from false information.
The police stressed the importance of responsible information sharing, urging residents to seek confirmation from credible authorities before forwarding or publishing sensitive security claims.
While distancing itself from the viral allegation, the FCT Police Command said it remains open to receiving credible information concerning alleged human organ trafficking or any other security threat within the Federal Capital Territory.
The Command urged anyone with genuine information concerning the alleged kidney sales or organ trafficking to report promptly to the nearest police station.
Residents can also contact the FCT Police Command through its designated telephone lines to provide information that could assist the authorities in investigating any genuine allegation.
The police said credible information would enable the appropriate authorities to establish the facts and take necessary action where an offence is confirmed.
