NNPC Announces Suspension Of Strike By Petroleum Tanker Drivers

October 10, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced the suspension of the planned nationwide strike by the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD).

The NNPC in a statement issued by its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Garba Deen Muhammad, said the development came after intensive engagement involving the leadership of the PTD, officials of the Corporation and other government agencies.

THEWILL reports the tanker drivers under the auspices of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) had threatened to embark on a strike effective midnight October 11, 2021, to protest the deplorable state of roads in the country.

The NNPC, while appreciating the maturity and patriotism of the leadership of the PTD; it reiterated its resolve to actively participate in finding a quick and effective solution to the concerns raised by the PTD.
