BEVERLY HILLS, July 22, (THEWILL) – Nigeria now has 38, 344 confirmed cases of the deadly coronavirus after the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, said 543 new cases were recorded on Wednesday.
According to the agency, 15, 815 recoveries have been recorded while the death toll stands at 813 up by 8.
Lagos, the epicenter of the pandemic in the country, added 180 of the new cases, while the FCT posted 86. Kaduna added 56, Edo 47, Ondo 37 and Kwara 35. See below for a full breakdown.
The NCDC says it has tested 218, 223 samples as at July 21, 2020.
THEWILL notes that data released by the NCDC does not paint a true and clear state of the pandemic in the country as the agency is only able to test about 3, 000 samples daily, a dismal capacity if you consider that Nigeria has an estimated population of about 200 million people.
