Nigerians Contribute N3.7m Within Four Hours To Acquire Prosthetic Leg For #EndSARS Protester

SAN FRANCISCO, October 19, (THEWILL) – A Nigerian lady with walking disability, Jane Obiene, has received the attention of Nigerians on social media following her participation in the #EndSARS protest on Saturday despite her condition as a fundraising campaign which was launched to get her a prosthetic leg has gathered N3.7 million in less than four hours.

A Nigerian medical practitioner, Nonso Egemba popularly called Aproko Doctor, initiated the fundraising campaign for Jane in the early hours of Sunday.

Nonso disclosed that Jane graduated in 2013 but she has not been able to get a job because of her disability and so he enjoined Nigerians to help donate N500, 000 within a month to help support her.

“This is Jane. She’s been unemployed since 2013 partly because of her disability, she came out in the #EndSARS protests and we need to help. Please click the link below to donate to this, if you can’t donate, please retweet, someone might see it on your timeline,” he wrote on Twitter.

The target of N500, 000 was achieved in thirty minutes.

So far, 619 people have contributed ₦ 3,708,500 to support the purchase of prosthetic leg and more are still donating.

Nonso wrote: “They’ll make you think this country won’t work because of tribe and religion, gender etc. We’ve shown them that they want it that way because of their selfish interests! A new Nigeria is emerging! We’ll be here for it!”
