The All Progressive Congress (APC) has been declared as winner of Saturday’s presidential election in Benue state.
Returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the State, Faruk Kuta, said the APC candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, polled 310,468 votes to beat his closest challenger Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), who secured 308,372 votes and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 130,081 votes.
The candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso, polled 4,740 votes.
The collation officer for Zamfara State presidential election, Professor Kashim Shehu of Federal University of Birnin Kebbi, announced the results in Gusau, on Tuesday.
Shehu noted that Bola Tinubu of the APC won 12 out of 14 Local Government Areas in the state, while Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party won two.
According to the results announced at the presidential election collation centre, Tinubu polled 298,396 votes. He was closely followed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 193,978 votes.
Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) scored 4,044 votes and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) polled 1,660 votes.
While 167 polling units were cancelled due to over-voting, insecurity and disruptions by thugs, total number of registered voters in the state was 1,879,308, and a total 527,137 voters were accredited for the poll.
