#NigeriaDecides2023: Gov Emmanuel Expresses Delight Over Peaceful Elections In Akwa Ibom

February 25, (THEWILL) – Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has expressed happiness over the orderly and peaceful conduct of the presidential and national assembly elections in most areas of the state.

The Governor disclosed this after casting his vote at his home unit, Awa Ward 1, in Onna LGA.

The Governor, who voted at about 10:30am, said he was impressed with the large turnout of the voters, adding that he would give an update after some hours and lauded the voters for conducting themselves orderly.

He, however, requested the voters to show their PVCs on arrival at the polling unit located at the Awa Iman town hall, having voted in the cubicle provided by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Our correspondent reports that polling units in some parts of the state had some hitches that made voting start behind schedule.

At unit 005, Ward 7, Itu LGA. There was an initial delay due to limited means of transportation. Only one bus was attached to the ward with 13 units.

Materials arrived at the unit at about 10am. There was also a problem with the BVAS due to the inability of the INEC staff attached to the unit to operate it.

Although voting commenced at about 11am, there are fears over if it would be completed before the expected automatic shutdown of the BVAS machine at 2:30pm as the capturing is very slow.
