September 26, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian delegation is ready to make their case to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), when they present before the CAF Executive Committee in Cairo, on Wednesday.

Representing the Nigerian government, the Minister of Sports Development, John Owan-Enoh, will lead the presentation, alongside leadership from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). They are expected to speak for 10 minutes before a Q&A session with CAF officials.

This comes after Nigeria and Benin submitted a joint bid earlier this year to host AFCON 2027. The Independent Assessment Committee has already visited proposed stadiums across Nigeria to evaluate facilities.

Other African nations bidding for 2025 and 2027 tournaments will also make their pitches at the Cairo meeting. Afterwards, the CAF Executive Committee will review the assessment reports and discuss potential host countries.

NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi, and bid Coordinator, Mainasara Ilo, round out the Nigerian contingent. They hope to convince CAF that Nigeria is best prepared to deliver a successful AFCON competition four years from now.
