March 10, (THEWILL) – In their most dominant performance at the TotalEnergies 2023 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, Nigeria’s Flying Eagles secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Tunisia in Friday’s third-place match.
The direct play is Ladan Bosso’s charges was too much for Tunisia to handle, as Ibrahim Muhammad and Ahmed Abdullahi both scored in the opening minutes of the two halves of the match. Jude Sunday then scored two more goals to clinch the bronze for Nigeria.

Tunisia had their chances, but they were not able to capitalise, and a disallowed goal added to their frustration. The second half started disastrously for Tunisia as they conceded just eleven seconds after the restart.
Nigeria then turned on the style and added two more goals through man-of-the-match, Sunday, to complete their rout of Tunisia. The victory aside, both teams have already secured their place in the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which will be held in Indonesia at the end of May.
Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will be hoping to build on this dominant performance, rather than their initial tepid displays and low goal conversion rates earlier in the tournament, as they aim to go one better than their second-place finish at the 2019 edition of the global showpiece.
