May 23, (THEWILL) – An aspirant contesting for a seat in the Ijebu Central Federal Constituency on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Adeola Azeez, has said that Nigeria can go nowhere without the participation of more women in politics.

Azeez, who spoke in an interview in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, said that lack of more women in politics has continued to hinder the progress of the country.

The daughter of elder statesman, Pa Ayo Adebanjo said that until more women are allowed in the three tiers and arms of government the country cannot move forward as expected

She frowned at the rejection of the five gender-based bills by members of the House of Representative, saying that such action was aimed at denying more women the opportunity to particpate in politics.

Azeez, who said that she was confident of victory in her constituency, come 2023, promised to ensure regular electricity supply, creation of jobs, agricultural development and education, among others, in Ijebu Central Federal Constituency.

“I am not satisfied with the number of women in politics. We don’t have enough women in government. How can we have when we don’t have support from the government?”
